Hello fellow petition supporters,

As you likely already know, the Toronto Humber Yacht Club is no longer operating on the shores of the Humber River and this outcome would not have been possible without the support and tireless work of Councillor Amber Morley, Ward 3 Etobicoke-Lakeshore , and her team.

I cannot sing the praises of Councillor Amber Morley enough.

She is the rare politician in Ontario who works tirelessly to improve the lives of her constituents on a daily basis vs working to line the pockets of developers and serve the moneyed elite above all.

As many of you know, I was involved with a community driven movement to see the Toronto Humber Yacht Club be denied their lease extension and be removed from the shores of the Humber River.

When I approached Amber, she took it upon herself to visit the yacht club and tour the property with the then commodore to see why the community was committed to have the club closed down. Amber also touched base with city departments to learn from them what their experience was in dealing the club and it's many lease violations and community complaints.

Only after developing a full picture of the situation on the ground did Amber decide to step in on the side of the community. And boy am I happy she did!!! Amber was a star in navigating the behind the scenes political moves by council members who do not represent our riding to undo all the work the community did to end the club's lease and in very dramatic form at the last hour managed to see the community's wishes were followed. You can see her in action here!

This is only one issue Amber has championed in her fight to see Toronto become a more livable and accessible home for all of it's residents and she has many more battles ahead of her.

It is for this reason I'm hoping you will support her in the upcoming city council elections on Monday October 26!!!

If you would like to take that extra step to ensure Amber is elected so she can continue to fight for the us at Toronto City Council you can visit https://www.voteambermorley.ca/

I would also like to bring up what's next for 101 Humber Valley Road. You may not be aware but the Toronto Humber Yacht Club's clubhouse was burned to the ground in what authorities suggest was arson.

With the clubhouse destroyed it will make our wish to establish an Outdoor Education/Paddle Center on the property more difficult to bring to life. But as with our efforts to see the THYC shutdown, we know nothing is impossible with enough community support.

With this in mind, if you support our idea of an Outdoor Education/Paddle Center being established on the shores of the Humber, please follow Toronto Humber Environmental Education & Paddle Center on facebook for updates.
