I am starting an online petition to get a revision on the Statue of Limitation in Kentucky on Sexual assault. As someone that has had to deal with a traumatic sexual assault, I know that it is nothing easy to deal with. I have found that due to the statue of limitations there is nothing that can be done with the man who sexually assaulted me when I was younger because of the time line, (how long it took to report), and the fact that he did not succeed in his attempt to rape me. What I was told, because there was no rape, no penetration he will get away with what he did, everything he has put me through, all of the damage that has been done I am still living with and suffering from while he has no consequences of his actions. I feel there should be NO limit in time frame in any sexual assault case, even if it was not rape, even just attempted rape, it should have no deadline. People are suffering worse than me and it took over 15 years for me to gain my voice, to finally tell my story and get justice. No person male or female of any age should go through any sexual crime nor should they have to suffer twice as much because nothing will be done. Please give me a chance to tell my story, to lead others into telling theirs. Please consider all of us who still have no voice, the victims that have no place to turn to, the ones that have such a dark cloud in their life, let us have a positive light in our lives.
