Dear Jacob,

As one of your constituents may I ask you show support for my petition please.

I am asking for support because the current CMS system is failing parents like me — and it’s allowing financial abuse to continue long after a relationship ends. Thousands of us feel like there is no escape and many have taken their own lives.
Me personally I am deciding to make a stand, have completed therapy and want to voice this to the goverment and be a voice for myself and other paying parents like me.

Right now, CMS calculations only consider one parent’s income. That means thousands of us are left vulnerable, unheard, and financially controlled through a system that should be protecting families, not enabling abuse.

To put this into perspective:
I earn £32k a year.
My ex husband earns over £50k — plus additional undeclared income which I have evidence of.

We have shared care ordered by the family court.

Yet he receives £345 a month for one child he has manipulated into not seeing me and claims both our children’s child benefit. He takes multiple holidays every year while I’m drowning in debt that stems from the abuse I’ve experienced — debt the CMS refuse to acknowledge.

What makes this even harder to accept is that he also works within our community as an on‑call firefighter. Someone in a position of public trust, someone expected to protect and support others, is still able to use a broken system to maintain financial control over me. And the CMS the uk goverment, as it stands, allows this to continue.

This isn’t just about money.
It’s about power.
It’s about a system that refuses to see the reality of financial abuse.
It’s about the emotional toll of fighting institutions that overlook the patterns survivors know all too well.

No parent should be punished for trying to rebuild their life.
No survivor should be retraumatised by the very systems meant to help them.
And no child should be caught in the middle of outdated rules that ignore the complexities of modern parenting.

I’m determined to fight for change — not just for myself, but for every parent who has been silenced, dismissed, or financially trapped by the current CMS structure.

If you believe in fairness, in protecting survivors, and in creating a system that reflects real life, please sign and share my petition. Your support truly matters. 🙏
