We’re so proud to share news that the proposal to introduce parking charges at The Playhouse car park has been SCRAPPED. The charge for the first resident parking permit has also been SCRAPPED. We are currently awaiting news regarding the Park Road car park.

The Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade Committee led this campaign independently, standing up for local businesses and our wider community. We submitted formal objections to North Tyneside Council and launched a public petition. 

We, the Committee, made up of Scott, Debra, June and Maggie were overwhelmed that over 3,300 of you signed our petition. Our collective voice was impossible to ignore.

This incredible show of support proves just how much we all care about Whitley Bay, about our local businesses, our residents, and keeping our town welcoming, vibrant and thriving for visitors and tourists alike.
