Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an important update following my meeting this morning with Everyone Active regarding the proposed parking changes at Ice Sheffield.
Firstly, thank you again to everyone who has signed and supported the petition — it’s because of your voices that we’ve been able to have these conversations.
I met with representatives today to raise all of the concerns that have been shared. Following that discussion, they’ve provided further clarification on how the new system will work.
They are planning to introduce an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system, but have confirmed the following:
• Free parking will still be available for users of Ice Sheffield
• General users and Skate UK participants will receive up to 2.5 hours of free parking per visit
• Members (including Patch users, coaches, and ice skating members) will be able to register their vehicles and receive free parking automatically
• Clubs and events will be supported to ensure they are not negatively affected
• A two-week testing period will take place before the system goes fully live
Most visitors will need to check in on arrival using tablets at reception, but full details will be shared soon.
This is a positive step, and it’s important that accurate information is shared. That said, we will continue to monitor how this is implemented to ensure it works fairly for everyone who uses the facility.
Thank you again for all your support — I’ll continue to keep you updated as we hear more.
