Dear petition supporters,

As you may have learned by now, at their May 21 meeting, unfortunately, the City Council approved the merged commissions.  I just wanted to personally thank all those citizens who signed the petition, wrote letters to the City Council, spoke out during public comment at City Council meetings, and/or assisted me to forge a campaign in opposition to either merging commissions or the corrupted process by which it was achieved.  

I have resigned my position as a Commissioner.  I have no wish to volunteer my time for a City Council that does not value my service.  The vote last night indicated to me that this particular City Council wholeheartedly believes Councilmember Vaitla’s disrespectful accusations: commissions are dysfunctional; don’t give the City Council information it wants; and commissioners are somehow “privileged”.  

What an incredibly sad, unappreciative and callous commentary from this City Council…
