Last night the Town of Westfield Planning Board did NOT represent the best interests of the town in terms of land use and zoning. After over an hour of presentation by Westfield Advocates of 27 pages of documented substantial inconsistencies, the Planning Board voted to approve the Lord & Taylor/Train Station Redevelopment Plan (One Westfield Place) for consistency with the Master Plan.  Not one board member discussed the application amongst each other publicly NOR indicated WHY they were voting to approve this 157 page Redevelopment Plan. 

The largest redevelopment plan in Westfield history and there was NO public discussion amongst and between the planning board members as to why this redevelopment plan was consistent with the master plan.  Unbelievable! The mayor, who is a voting member of the board, and has been deeply involved in negotiations with the developer, clearly influences this boards behavior and inhibits free discussion.
