Quick but very important update:

The Board of Ed meeting was not as successful as we wanted, but we learned that the members basically gave away our voices and input into matters that concern the community, we will continue to speak out on behalf of Mr. Hill.

Unfortunately the 5 Board of Education members - Megan Walsh (President), Kim Allamby (Vice President), Josephine Chan, Rini Ghosh, Wendy Leatherberry - granted the superintendent, Robert Hardis, unchecked authority, effectually silencing our voices and the concerns of the community they are meant to serve.

Below you'll find a letter that is going out to the superintendent, the middle school principal, all the board members, and faculty, staff and the mayor via email. We want everyone to know the we are outraged by this and have to make our voices heard.  You can use it as your own to do the same, copy & paste, and/or add your own words. Feel free to call and express your opinion to any or all of the personnel using the numbers in the letter.

If you have any question or would like to get involved on a deeper level, send an email to BeachwoodForMrHill@gmail.com

THANK YOU ALL!!!

Greeting all,

This is a letter to demand justice:

Restore Mr. Hill to His Rightful Place at Beachwood Middle School

As concerned students and parents of the Beachwood School District, we stand united in demanding the immediate reinstatement of Mr. Hill to his former tenured position at Beachwood Schools, currently at the Middle School, where he dedicated 28 years of his life to shaping young minds.

We cannot and will not stand idly by while a beloved teacher is unjustly removed from our community.

Mr. Hill's departure was not a voluntary resignation. It was the result of undue pressure and bullying tactics employed by the administration, an act we find unacceptable. We refuse to accept the notion that our elected Board of Education members can grant the superintendent unchecked authority, effectively silencing the voices and concerns of the community they are meant to serve.

Note: three of the five board members are up for re-election in the upcoming school year.

Mr. Hill is more than just a teacher; he is a mentor, an educator, and a father figure to countless students. He is a cornerstone of Beachwood Middle School, a guide for those who need him most. His impact on our children extends far beyond the classroom, shaping them into well-rounded, responsible individuals.

Furthermore, in a school district as diverse as Beachwood, it is imperative that our faculty reflects the rich tapestry of our student body. The lack of teachers of color, particularly male teachers of color, is a glaring issue that must be addressed. Mr. Hill's presence is invaluable, providing representation and a sense of belonging for students from all backgrounds.

The recent rally by current Beachwood teachers at the Board of Education Building underscores the intense tension simmering between teachers and district administration. The core issue lies in the lack of support from the administration during ongoing contract negotiations.

We, the students and parents of Beachwood, refuse to accept a future without Mr. Hill. We demand that the Beachwood School District restore Mr. Hill to his former tenured position. It is time for the administration to listen to the community, acknowledge their mistake, and reinstate a teacher who has dedicated his life to our children. We will not rest until justice is served and Mr. Hill is back where he belongs.

To ensure our voices are heard, we propose the following action plan:

Continued Advocacy: We will continue to voice our concerns to the superintendent and the Board of Education members through emails, calls, letters and public forums.

Community Support: We will organize rallies and demonstrations to show our unwavering support for Mr. Hill.

Local Media: We will contact local media to expose the circumstances surrounding Mr. Hill’s departure and ensure his reinstatement.

This is not merely a request; it is a plea for justice, for fairness, and for the well-being of our school community.

Thank you for your attention and consideration of this crucial matter.

Sincerely,
