The Niagara Scenic Parkway, an essential travel pathway in our region, has been long overdue for maintenance. Its current poor state is not only straining regular commutes but also hampering the crucial tourism industry in the Niagara region. According to American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) 2017 infrastructure report card, the U.S. scored a D+ on roads primarily due to poor conditions and lack of appropriate improvements. Our Parkway is one such neglected road.

The benefits of resurfacing the road stretch beyond just improving the commute. Enhancing road quality could help reduce the number of vehicular accidents that occur, which stood at an alarming 33,244 annually in the state of New York, as per the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR).

Furthermore, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) states resurfacing roads helps lower carbon emissions by improving fuel efficiency, thus benefiting the environment. The upkeep and enhancement of the Parkway could significantly boost the region's appeal, and in turn, its economy.
