It’s 4 days till Election Day! I’m urging all of you to please get out and vote! Last year I started this petition against the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Supervisor Donald Clavin. It has over 45,000 signatures! Clavin destroyed the TNR program at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. And to this day it is a crumb of what it was. People protested and wrote letters. Clavin refused to listen or read any of those letters into the public record. We went to every single council meeting to plead with him to reinstate the TNR program and he ignored us. The feral population is out of control on Long Island. Clavin has a $5.5 million dollar budget solely for the shelter and has used the bulk of that money to pay for crony salaries yet he spends next to nothing on the animals, except when it comes to shipping adoptable non feral cats to a sanctuary at $350 a cat! He’d rather pay money to get rid of the cats in the shelter than find them a home. If you care about the animals in your community and the services that your shelter should be providing with your tax dollars please get out and vote in a new Town of Hempstead Supervisor.
