Thank you to the community members that have shared their concerns regarding pesticide use on County-owned farmland in Cross Plains. We understand that this issue is important to nearby residents and families, and we take these concerns seriously.

County staff are reviewing the current lease, land management practices, and questions raised about pesticide use, notification, transparency, and possible alternative practices. Please know that Atrazine is already a banned substance is most of Dane County per state law. As the review moves forward, Dane County will consider appropriate next steps, including opportunities for public communication and engagement.

Dane County is committed to responsible stewardship of public land and to thoughtful review of concerns raised by the community.
