Happy New Year to all Edgware neighbours and supporters of our Edgware Station Rd petition.

First, a genuine thank you. Because of your support and persistence, we have started to see real progress on the ground.

What has been achieved so far

New bins have been installed on Station Road, replacing the old bins that often caused mess and did not offer recycling options.
Station Road itself is noticeably cleaner than it was before.
This did not happen by chance. It happened because people spoke up and kept speaking up.

What still must change in 2026 and needs the attention of our MP and local councillors

Enforcement
Bins alone are not enough. Without consistent enforcement, litter and cigarette ends continue to end up on the pavement instead of in the bins. Rules only work when they are enforced.

Street cleaning
Edgware urgently needs proper pavement vacuuming and mechanical street cleaning. This is not a luxury. It is a basic requirement for a busy main street used daily by residents, shoppers, commuters and families.

Broken and uneven pavements
Large sections of Station Rd pavements near the shops are broken and or uneven. Although I was asked to provide proof, in the form of many photos which I have sent, the response was that there is no problem. This is far from the truth, as you probably witness every day when walking along Station Rd.

Removal of neglected phone boxes
Promises were made. However, the reality is that nothing has been done and the phone boxes are still contributing to the neglected appearance of Station Rd.

There is progress, but progress will stop if pressure stops. Change only continues when it is clear that the public is watching and expects results. Politicians act when they feel sustained public demand.

Please take two minutes today to send a short email to our local representatives. Even a few lines are enough. When hundreds of people do this together, it has impact.
