Dearest friends:
On August 26th, 2024, at exactly 12:01 a.m., after almost a century of service of bringing the news not just locally, but nationally and internationally, WCBS news radio 88 signed off the year. This was because in part of a deal made by a u d c i t y and Good karma brand to launch ESPN radio on the frequency that became part of our life: 880. Although the ending was touching, I have strongly believed that this was not a good time to sign the station off air. There is a crucial and very consequential election unfolding in our nation and there are things in the world that are in need of our attention now more than ever. Freedom of the press should not be silenced because of big corporative deals, there should have been negotiations to keep WCBS news radio 88 on the air through CBS Viacom or some sort of way to keep WCBS AM news radio 88 on an FM station, I strongly believed this is a fatal mistake that they made.
This is why I am starting this petition now, to tell the company to reconsider its opportunity and possibly restore this station to the people because everyone loves this station very much. Journalists like Wayne Cabot, Charles osgood, Michael Cole, Ben farnsworth, and so many others, have been the institutes most important engines - the reporters bringing us stories as if all they were the narrators of human history. If we can get as many people to sign the petition and so much more I will personally mail off the petition to the company and its owner to fully reconsider this very tragic and very heartbreaking situation. I first want to thank all of you that are helping me get this petition off the ground. I now asks all of you if you can please spread the message, and maybe even help with some financial support to spread the message to others, we can make a giant difference together!
