SPREAD THE WORD: Watch & share Jeremy's video here // Retweet here
"Ten years ago I opposed the bombing of Libya, because it would result in civilian causalities & would bring about a catastrophic situation. Sadly, Libya has still not recovered from that.
The lesson is it's very easy to press the button & send off the planes to bomb other places, [but] it's very hard for the people of those places to pick up the pieces afterwards. Let's look for peaceful solutions, not wars."
With: Jeremy Corbyn MP // Claudia Webbe MP // Murad Qureshi (Stop the War Coalition) // Barbara Ntumy, (Black Liberation Alliance) // James Schneider (Progressive International & formerly Jeremy Corbyn’s spokesperson.) Chair: Emma Dent Coad (former MP & Vice-President London CND)
10 years ago in March 2011, NATO's bombing of Libya was opposed by only a handful of MPs, but now the war is commonly understood as a disaster. Come & discuss the lessons of that war and why Labour must keep speaking up against war - and for peace, internationalism and justice.
Hosted by Arise - A Festival of Labour's Left Ideas.
