We have some massive news, everyone! It's been a long time, just over a year now, and today SEGA has released massive news that their partnership with the IOC has finally resumed and licensing has been gained! This has already received a massive response on social media platforms, many talking about Mario & Sonic and a possible failure in NFT gaming. I did not expect to see this on my timeline, but it's a good sign of what could become at some point. It is important to note that this is not a full victory yet, as we need to see if Sonic characters (and Mario characters, at best too) star in an Olympic video game. The 2026 reminder does give us some clues that there may be more to this story as time goes by.
I didn't expect to have 280+ signatures at this point, but I welcome each and every one of you. Now that we got this news, now we just need to voice it out: we want Mario & Sonic back together again. Even at least Sonic at the Olympic Games is good enough, but we'll aim for gold (pun... necessary, I guess) to bring Mario & Sonic together and keep uniting these franchises, because I have noticed us Mario and Sonic fan groups have been warring more again over the past few years.
The next news we'll get for this is by next year. Here is hoping this doesn't lead to just merchandise, because we all know the feeling - that would really disappoint. Here's to hoping this might give the series a comeback. We'll keep showing SEGA just how much this series means to each and every one of us. Thank you!
