Important Update and Media Coverage for Our Bus Stop
I wanted to provide you with an important update regarding our ongoing efforts to address the safety concerns related to the recent relocation of the bus stop in Pontypool.
Despite our persistent efforts, I regret to inform you that my request to speak with the transportation committee has been denied, and the school board has removed any and all information pertaining to such a committee from their website. This is undoubtedly a frustrating setback in our quest for open communication and resolution.
On a positive note, I am happy to share that we secured an opportunity to raise awareness about this issue through a television interview with Global News. I have included a link to the news clip at the end of this message. This platform provides us with a valuable opportunity to shed light on the safety concerns surrounding the new bus stop location and the challenges we face in engaging with the school board. It was a lot to cover, so a few things weren’t able to be included:
- The transportation committee info was removed from their website after I made my request and advised me no such committee exists (images showing this posted to my Facebook)
- Permission was provided to TLDSB from our neighbour to use the private property turnaround. I believe they are lying about receiving complaints.
- Written confirmation from a former resident that children have been picked up on our side of HWY 35 in the past, using the same turnaround we are asking to be used.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who has taken the time to support us in this crucial matter. Your signatures, messages, and willingness to stand together for the safety of my child has been what's kept me going.
As we await the broadcast, I encourage you to continue sharing our petition and raising awareness within our community. Your support is instrumental in amplifying our collective voice and ensuring that the concerns of constituents are heard and addressed.
I will keep you updated on any further developments and actions we can take. Thank you for your unwavering support.
Sincerely,
Lauren Cadenhead
