I could not be more grateful for the support we’ve seen so far — over 1,700 people have signed the petition in just two weeks. That’s 1,700 voices saying enough is enough.

But let’s be clear: this dangerous staffing policy has not been reversed. Not yet.

City leaders have the power to end this model today — to scrap it immediately and begin real conversations about real solutions that don’t put lives at risk. That’s what we’re calling for, and we’re not stopping until it happens.

While this petition doesn’t carry legal weight, it absolutely carries a message: we are paying attention, and we will not be silent.  It will also be a part of the public record that these leaders choose to continue ignoring the citizens they serve.

Since the day this petition launched — just two weeks ago — Red Deer’s firefighter/paramedics and citizens have been placed in harm’s way seven more times. This is not getting better. It’s getting worse.
