Petition updateRestore Peach Orchard ParkSummer is fast approaching, yet Peach Orchard Park has not been returned to all users!
Restore Peach OrchardCanada
12 Apr 2024

Recent activity of restoring the damaged lawn in the temporary fenced dog park at Peach Orchard Park does not indicate that the park will be accessible to those who previously engaged in typical recreational activities there. The incessant barking continues to disrupt individuals seeking tranquility or enjoying summer fun in the park.

Despite the significant numbers on our petition, the District of Summerland persists in keeping the fence in place.

The mission of the District of Summerland is "to foster a progressive, healthy, and innovative community by continually improving the social, environmental, cultural, and economic well-being for present and future generations."

How does the presence of a dog park on our beautiful lakefront property, which was once utilized by all Summerland residents and visitors, align with the District of Summerland mission?

How does the nuisance of the fenced dog park contribute to progressiveness, healthiness, and innovation? In what ways does it safeguard our environment?

One of the council’s strategic priorities for 2022 – 2026 is to enhance quality of life.

How does a dog park enhance the quality of life for all Summerland residents?

While new, creative ideas for a standalone fenced dog park have been proposed, the district has yet to act on them.

Your votes are greatly appreciated. Thank you for expressing your concerns to your friends and neighbors who share your conviction that Peach Orchard Park should be restored to its original unobstructed park accessible to all users.
