The recent article in the Penticton Herald (https://www.pentictonherald.ca/news/article_a7709be6-ab42-11ee-9443-57c951090e66.html may have overlooked some crucial points. A dedicated group of local residents, committed to preserving Peach Orchard, voiced their concerns about the fenced dog park at Peach Orchard Beach Park to the District of Summerland council on December 19, 2023. Contrary to any animosity towards dog owners, the group actively supports finding a more suitable location for a permanent dog park—one that caters to everyone's needs. Their objective is to advise the council on a perfect location that could serve as a long-term, enjoyable space for dog owners and potentially become a second fenced dog park location in Summerland.

During the meeting, the group eloquently expressed numerous concerns about Peach Orchard Park, emphasizing its negative impact on typical park users and the environment. They advocate for restoring Peach Orchard Park to its original condition until a more suitable location for fenced dog park is identified. The community has unequivocally voiced its opinion, with those supporting the restoration of the park emphasizing the importance of returning the location to children and families, Summerland residents and visitors. The goal is to ensure that Peach Orchard Park remains a cherished space for generations to come.
