Water Levels TEMPORARY RELIEF only

All up and down Georgian Bay shorelines, residents and the fish are seeing the benefits of considerably higher water levels. The musky and pike can finally get into wetlands to spawn after 14 years of low water levels when they could not. McMaster University researchers (under work partnered by Sierra Club Canada Foundation including ROWI volunteers) have found “young of the year” pike and musky this summer – excellent news! Shoreline wetland vegetation is beginning to re-establish where 6-foot-tall pine trees, shrubs, and the invasive reed Phragmites had taken over exposed shorelines. Read more....
