It is great to start with a little good news - that is there are no travellers on the coach park - but, then again, that is how it should be. Coach parks are for coaches. The Parish Council have contacted Derbsyhire Dales D.C. with a series of questions about the new arrangements for the travellers:
What happens if the traveller family do NOT park their caravans in the designated area?
What happens if they turn up outside the permitted period – i.e. March to October?
What happens if they refuse to leave at the end of the permitted period?
As of today, we have yet to receive a reply with answers
We also asked:
What steps are being taken to make the whole car park safe from illegal traveller encampments?
What steps are being taken to encourage coach companies to return to Matlock Bath and start using the coach park again?
Again, as yet, no answers.
We have taken the initiative and arranged for a representative of CPT who is an expert on coach/car park security to a site meeting to assess the issues and advise Derbyshire Dales D.C. on ways forward to make the coach/car park secure.
I will of course update this page after the meeting as the second point of our petition states:
2. Take all possible precautions to ensure that the Station Car and Coach Park’s future users will only be tourists, residents and rail passengers.
Once all points on our petition are satisfactorily resolved, we can declare vistory. Until then, the fight goes on.
