Silver Linings: Mainland Victory Confirmed — Hawaiʻi Fight Continues

Quick update:

I have both good news and unfortunate news to share . . .

The good news is that the mainland and State of Alaska routing in-cabin policy change is indeed confirmed and live. I have also been able to confirm that if the bird can fit in the carrier that can fit under the seat in front . . . it can fly in-cabin.

However, I've since confirmed that interisland Hawaiʻi flights are not yet included — the airline is in active discussions with the Hawaiʻi Department of Agriculture on this specific routing. I am in direct communication with the airline's policy team and pushing for resolution. The interisland question remains the central priority of this campaign and I will update you as soon as I have clarity. Please do not attempt to book birds on interisland flights at this time — the system will not accept it.

The Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines "Pets-in-Cabin" web page did state that only flights "to/from" Hawai'i were going to be restricted. But the airline informs me that this error will be corrected shortly to also restrict flights within Hawai'i as well . . . hopefully until the negotiations are concluded and restrictions can be lifted.

Please continue to lend your support to this effort, and encourage others to sign this petition. It has already brought our Mainland and Alaska bird community the results we hoped for, and we ask for a continuation of that support so we can reach the finish line.

I will report any new developments in these updates, as they take place.
