In 2023, 1,430 men died by suicide, making up 74% of all suicide deaths in Australia. Many of these men are facing overwhelming pressures — from family breakdowns, financial stress, and the family court system — and too often, they don’t have the support they need to cope.

Meanwhile, 59 women tragically lost their lives to domestic violence last year. While efforts to combat abuse continue, false allegations in family court are harming men and diverting vital resources from true victims of domestic violence. These accusations have devastating consequences for men’s lives, jobs, and mental health, further deepening the crisis.

The system is failing both men and women. Men need better mental health support, especially those facing family breakdowns, false allegations, and the emotional strain of family court. Women need safe spaces and protection from abuse.
