Thank you for being alongside me on this journey to help the elephants in Botswana!

As the number of supporters grew, I realized I wanted to fully understand the complexities of the situation regarding elephant conservation in Botswana. Elephants are facing multiple threats.  Not only is there the problem of poaching and hunting, elephants are also getting killed due to human-elephant conflict.

There is a way we can help protect the elephants now!

There is a great organization in Botswana, called Elephants Without Borders (EWB), who are dedicated to finding solutions to protect elephants and to reduce human-elephant conflict with people that share their space.

Many rural villages support themselves by subsistence farming in wildlife areas and near watering holes that the elephants depend on.  The conflict is the elephants pass through these villages to find food and water destroying crops which increases tension with farmers.  Often, elephants are shot just for passing the wrong areas to access needed water and food.

EWB has developed a “toolkit” of sustainable, low-cost, low input, environmentally-friendly mitigation strategies to deter the elephants from potentially destroying crops, gardens and property.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 to effectively implement these strategies in five key villages near where the elephants live.

Any donation is significant and greatly appreciated.

Together we can help elephants and the people who share their space live “Side by Side” peacefully.
