I would like to draw your attention to a revision of my petition:
· I have recently learned that the 87 elephant carcasses found in 2018, was not an isolated incident. In fact, even more were found during an aerial survey. The elephant carcasses were found at multiple sites and were killed on different days. But to remain clear, all of these elephants’ cause of death were confirmed as being poached.
· In addition, I have discovered there were only two active Anti-Poaching Units protecting the elephants; The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) and The Botswana Defense Force (BDF). The government took weapons away from the DWNP’s Anti-Poaching Unit, making it impossible for them to safely patrol to fight poachers. Because the government took away one source of much needed protection for the elephants, they are faced with their biggest threat to survival: Poachers.
Previously, I had stated I will hand deliver this petition to the Embassy of Botswana when we have 1 million supporters. Please keep this in mind and continue to share this petition as we move closer to this goal.
Please stay tuned for I will be providing an exciting update in the next couple of weeks!
In gratitude,
