This was the most recent update:
The CVRD released the video explaining the situation around the corridor and the fit-up costs to the Provincial and Federal Government for 3 options, trails and rails, just rails, or just a trail. For some reason they only costed the trail for the CVRD portion of the railway so don't forget to multiply those numbers by 4 for the whole corridor.
The ACRD put forward a resolution to the Association of Vancouver Island and Coast Communities (AVICC) to have them ask the BC Government to fund the Alberni Subdivision for use in emergencies. That resolution passed.
The Island Corridor Foundation is exploring the idea of using hi-rail buses on the corridor like the service provided in Lillooet BC.
Chek News reported that rail plans still coming two years after $18 million grant made available to FN's and RD's.
Mayor Barb Desjardins mentioned during an interview during a hi-rail tour event that engagement with First Nations is still ongoing.
As always thank you for your support, your shares, your promotions, and keeping this dream alive!
