RESIGN: Mayor Bodker & Councilmember Davenport

The Issue

Mike Bodker and Cori Davenport, Resign from City Council.

You have displayed poor judgement and a lack of ethics in the decisions you have made.

Cori Davenport, you are a close friend of one the billboard company owners, and are even lake house neighbors. Your official involvement in the billboard settlement negotiations gave the appearance that your office is being used inappropriately. Your duty is to avoid that situation. Yet, you did not recuse yourself.

Mayor you also negotiated this settlement on behalf of the city.

You both have the professional responsibility to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, and have failed at that.

Other questionable decisions in the past few years:

Development

• Continue to encourage apartment buildings and approve high density development
• Continue to vote to change the zoning laws, rather than enforce
• Continue to allow clear cutting of hardwood forests
• Vote to rezone Dean Gardens into another subdivision
• District - Hired the $250K consultants to propose high density downtown

Traffic

• Failure to act on traffic and congestion relief
• Have not addressed the dangerous intersection 141/SB
• Have not addressed the out of sync traffic lights
• Lack of focus on transportation
• Push for 5 roundabouts - Barnwell Rd

Other Issues

• Accepting HUD money, thus putting the City under Federal compliance mandates
• Allowing the proposed emergency communications Super Tower with no due diligence (approving contracts & easements, land purchase)
• Failure to address noise ordinance issues for 2 years
• Extravagant contracts that are not put out to bid (CH2M Hill)
• Lack of accountability on poor quality of work from City Manager
• Extravagant travels, such as staying in expensive hotels like the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, paid for with city tax dollars
• Refusal to hold special election leaving 2 Council seats empty for 11 months
• Raising taxes by maintaining the millage rate
• Bodker leading through fear and threats
• Negotiated the billboard settlement that did not help Johns Creek**

**Settlement that would have benefited Johns Creek would have included:
• Height restrictions that would be similar to the adjacent buildings, not 80-95 High, to be seen for miles away.
• Smaller boards, not these giants signs.
• Billboards turn off at night from 10pm-7am. They are shining into peoples homes 24/7.
• No new locations. Let them stick to the parcels they sued over.

We need new leadership, with strong ethics and true integrity.
How else can the public trust our local government?  Citizens of Johns Creek, if you agree we deserve a mayor and council that serve the interest of all people living in Johns Creek, please sign and share this petition with your neighbors.
