As some of you may know, we recently received word that the developers of the gargantuan Flamingo 640 glamping project have gotten the county to agree to try to exempt the project from environmental review, despite significant impacts on traffic, night skies, noise, and the disruption of a large amount of habitat for the protected Western Joshua Tree. On Thursday, March 24 at 6:30 pm, Chris Clarke has organized a Zoom meeting (more dial-in info below) on where we stand in the process, and possible next steps. Brendan Cummings, Conservation Director for the Center for Biological Diversity, will be available to give an overview of how the environmental review process works – or doesn’t – and we’re hoping that a representative of the Mojave Desert Lan Trust will offer a brief summary of the land’s conservation values.

With a comment deadline on April 21, we don’t have much time to pull together our opposition. But we can do it if we rally the troops and gather in a united front.
