This petition was started to gauge community interest in exploring ways to increase access to affordable housing in Kingston.

It is not intended to suggest that individual tenants should subsidize others, nor that costs should be unfairly shifted onto market-rate renters. Any potential approach to affordability would need to be thoughtfully designed, transparent, and involve appropriate policy tools, partnerships, or funding mechanisms.

I recognize that housing is a complex issue with many perspectives, and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to engage—whether in support, opposition, or discussion. My goal is simply to allow this petition to run for a short period to better understand the level of community interest before deciding next steps.
