Parents, Alumni, Students, Family and Friends:

In light of the recent ruling by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (the league that governs over St. Anthony High School) said that Charles Bassey - one of the best basketball players in the history of San Antonio high school sports will no longer be allowed to compete. Bryan Bunselmeyer, who is the executive director for TAPPS, said Bassey and other unnamed St. Anthony players have been ruled ineligible to compete this year. He did not provide a reason for the decision.

Therefore after many years of unfair action taken upon STA from TAPPS executive board members and their referees in order to advance other priority schools within the district (who have representatives on their board while STA does not) please join us in requesting that St. Anthony Catholic High School consider leaving TAPPS and joining another league where our kids can have a fair shot within our athletic and elective programs. TAPPS has turned into a "good 'ole boy" system and has a known history of being biased and discriminatory against smaller schools with less of a funded athletic program within the district. This league calls itself a Christian league but does not show that in their actions which is not in line with our Catholic mission and ministry. Although we have no control over their decisions we do have control on which league we pay to play in. Let's show TAPPS STA will not be pushed around anymore! #FREETHEHIVE
