Every single signature brings us closer to our goal to influence the Orlando City Council and show them the love we have for our city and and demonstrates the strong community support behind our vision for a safe and vibrant downtown for everyone.

Updates to Our Petition Description and Key Focus Areas:

We've also been busy refining our petition to better reflect our collective goals and provide even more clarity on the changes we advocate for. We've updated the description to include and emphasize key areas of concern and proposed solutions:

Protecting Downtown's Vibrancy: A significant update focuses on the Orlando City Council's proposal for mandated midnight bar and nightlife closures. We firmly believe this measure risks undermining the economic, cultural, and social vitality of our city. Our petition urges the council to reject this restrictive policy and instead pursue thoughtful solutions that ensure Downtown Orlando remains a vibrant, inclusive, and safe destination for everyone.

Embracing the Downtown Orlando Action Plan (DTO Action Plan): We've highlighted our support for the core vision of the DTO Action Plan. This plan envisions a Downtown Orlando that is easy to get around in, feels like a park, and is truly for everyone. We advocate for initiatives that align with these principles, promoting walkability, green spaces, and accessibility.

Prioritizing Safety and Community Engagement: While recognizing recent positive trends (Orlando Police statistics show shots-fired calls and overall shootings have fallen by more than half since 2022), we continue to emphasize the importance of sustainable safety improvements and enhanced community engagement strategies. Our petition advocates for approaches that foster a sense of security and belonging for residents and visitors alike.

We encourage you to revisit the petition at www.change.org/DowntownOrlando to read the updated description in full and get an even clearer picture of our shared vision.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support. Together, we are building a brighter future for Downtown Orlando!

Sincerely,

Michael Vacirca
