Important ancient trees are being chainsawed and woodchipped on the Western Highway..

It's time the government showed respect for environment and culture.

This morning 15 police vechles including public order response teams arrived at the Djab Wurrung sovereign camps along the western highway to attempt to clear out protestors, dismantle camps and destroy sacred sites.

Police have closed off Hillside Road, to block access to the blockade camp that has been protecting a sacred directions tree. Machines moved into the area with police and removed blockade structures. The 350 year old Djab Wurrung Directions tree has been cut down during this mornings raid of the Hill side Road camp by police.
