o Ask the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to require CDC to adopt “people-level” indicators to measure CDC’s performance in combating Lyme disease and ensure that taxpayer money is being used wisely. An example of these ​indicators are “reduce the rate of treatment failure” and “reduce the average time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis.” Current indicators are tied to CDC patents.

o Direct the HHS Secretary and NIH Director to investigate evidence that $30 million in NIH grants for translational research were misappropriated to support articles that attacked and smeared Lyme patients and numerous researchers and healthcare providers.
