We, the undersigned, are Afghan individuals at risk who, after the fall of Afghanistan, are waiting for the review of our immigration cases. Many of us are currently living in difficult and uncertain conditions in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Qatar, with our cases left unresolved.

Recently, documents have emerged suggesting that Mr. Mirza Mohammad Katawazai, former Deputy Speaker of Afghanistan’s Parliament, who is reported to have close associations with Taliban officials, has been issued a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) and has traveled to the United States.

We are concerned about this case given the unresolved status and hardships faced by Afghan nationals who assisted the United States and are seeking safe relocation.

We respectfully request that the U.S. government:

Review the issuance of the SIV to Mr. Katawazai;
Examine how he was able to obtain this visa and travel to the United States;
Ensure transparency and fairness in the SIV program, particularly for Afghan nationals still awaiting resettlement.

Our goal is to ensure that the SIV process remains fair and that all applicants, especially those at serious risk, are treated equitably.
