Dear Jason Lewis,

Thank you for your email of April 27th , 2026 requesting that an emergency public meeting be convened as soon as possible to address the impact of repeated flooding in the Muskoka River watershed.

I appreciate your input and I agree that it is imperative that officials from MNR, and others, be present at this meeting to hear directly from affected property owners, share relevant data to better understand what happened this year and commit to alter the water management plan as required to mitigate the risk and impact of future flood events. 

As you may know, after extensive advocacy by the Township, in November, 2024, the MNR committed to complete this exact exercise but in spite of constant follow up nothing has been actioned from this promise. 

I believe that a re-commitment by MNR to this course of action with periodic progress reports and a fixed completion date would be the best path forward. 

I am working with the province to pull together a meeting similar to that requested by you and hope to be in a position to call a meeting shortly.
