Hooray! Alan Bates, the man who has campaigned relentlessly with so much tenacity, humility and integrity to seek justice for all the wronged sub-post masters and mistresses and whose story was the reason I started this petition, has duly been rewarded with a knighthood. Who could be more deserving?

It is for people like Alan Bates why I maintain that, although the UK Honours system requires extensive reform, it should not be abolished. It is so good to see fine role models being recognised
