I continue to be in regular contact with my local MP, who is fully behind this campaign. As a member of the Shadow Cabinet and due to parliamentary protocol, he is, unfortunately, unable to raise the matter at PMQs because he can only raise questions which relate to his brief in parliament. However, he has offered to write to Ministers on our behalf to get their comments on the petition and its proposals, and ask what the Government is thinking of doing on the matter. I have requested him to take this step.

The more local MPs who hear from their constituents about their disaffection with the current honours system, the more grist to the mill! If you haven't contacted your MP, why not do so now?! Don't forget to include your full name, postal address and telephone number, without which your MP will not be able to deal with your enquiry.
