Dear Warriors,
On behalf of the eight student-athletes and their parents, thank you for signing and sharing this petition. We have received more than 500 signatures in support of the eight student-athletes targeted unfairly by the Manitoba High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). Please keep sharing this with your network, as we aim to submit 1000 signatures to the MHSAA.
Yesterday was another bad day for our kids. The junior varsity kids banned by the MHSAA were on the court to play the last game of this season under the impression that they were eligible because Northstar is no longer housed at Churchill High School. However, the opponent team refused to take the court and left with the fear of disqualification from the MHSAA if they played. This is what we heard from one of the opponent kids' parents.
We want to inform you that the MHSAA has unfairly targeted the Churchill High School student-athletes attending Northstar Basketball Academy. The MHSAA's school preparatory policy applies only to student-athletes attending the preparatory training/program. The eight student-athletes banned by the MHSAA do not attend Northstar's preparatory training/program. They attend Northstart's circuit program, which is not related to the MHSAA's preparatory school policy. Student-athletes from other schools attending similar programs are, however, allowed to play.
We are glad you support our efforts to speak up against this systemic injustice. Please keep sharing the petition with your network.
Thank you.
