Bill-44 Should Be Front and Foremost During A Snap Election On Top Of An Election.
The General Local Government Election in British Columbia is taking place in a week Oct 17, 2026. It will soon be followed by a Provincial Election Oct 24, 2026.
First and foremost the subject should be Bill 44. The media which is far too close to the development industry and real estate, will downplay the importance of Bill 44, but it should be front and centre as this is the future of our communities. It is critical to contact the candidates in these elections and demand that they reveal whether or not they will push to repeal Bill 44 if elected.
If the candidates email info@sashaizard.com stating that they oppose Bill 44 and are happy with that information being made public, - I can publicly post which candidates oppose Bill 44 in a petition update.
Myself, Sasha Izard the creator of the petition to repeal Bill 44 made over 2 years ago, am running for a position on Saanich Council and will staunchly oppose Bill 44 through the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) if elected.
Elect Sasha Izard - Stand up for Saanich!
Sid Tobias, the outgoing Mayor of View Royal has from the get-go staunchly opposed Bill 44, and sought to unite local government opposition against it. He will be running Provincially. Sid is our best hope for an MLA to strongly oppose Bill 44 and similar legislation at the Provincial level, since Adam Olsen opposed it in 2023 leading Kahlon to invoke closure in order to ram the bill through without further questions.
Sid Tobias - Esquimalt–Colwood
Thank you again for all of your support. There is no need to donate to this petition, no matter what Change.org marketing suggests, but please let others know about this petition, and demand that your candidates and politicians oppose this horrible piece of legislation that is destroying our environment and communities for developer profits.
