Recently, I chanced upon an article online (dated 2 March 2017) regarding repealing Section 377A of the Penal Code. Section 377A ("Outrages on decency") states that:
"Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or abets the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years.
In the article, veteran BBC journalist Stephan Sackur asked PM Lee if the Singapore Government would remove Section 377A, as a symbol of change in the country. In his response, PM Lee was quoted as saying "this is a society which is not that liberal on these matters...... I believe if you have a referendum on the issue today, 377A would stand.”
Let's help push for this referendum to happen, and show PM Lee that we are indeed ready for a change.
