Thanks again to everyone who has supported this petition. We are continuing to make some progress and our voices are being heard!
At the same time, we are facing several challenges ahead of us and the fight is far from over. It seems this conversation and ensuing battle repeats itself every 5-7 years with a new Mayor and City Council unfamiliar with the history and wrapped up in their own current agendas. The last round involved quite significant time and expense for all parties involved, so it is certainly frustrating having to rehash it all again.
Here's an excellent video that offers a recap of some of the recent history, as well as great footage showing the City Council passing Resolution 37146. Thier own words make it clear that the Water Bureau needs to continue to own and maintain the Mt Tabor reservoirs and that the City was also very committed towards their preservation and to keeping them filled. Worth taking the time to watch!
