Thank you all for signing the petition! We are at 200+ signatures so far which is so great to have before I go to the school board on Tues Feb 11! If you'd like to continue to support, here are some easy actions that can be taken to help amplify your voice that could go a long way:
Like/Comment on Social Media Posts
I posted on next door and facebook, and the more likes/comment they get the more the algorithm shows it to people. Even just liking or saying "Signed!" does it.
Share your personal story on Change.org comments
There have been some amazing personal stories of how this closure has personally impacted so many families. Why is opening this park important to you? If you are open to sharing this, please add a comment to the petition. (just click that link or go to "take the next steps" until you find it.)
Investigative work !!
There's been a rumor that there was a potential "share use" agreement between the school and the city but no one has procured such documents. Is that an urban legend? Are people confusing Roosevelt with some other school that has one? or is it in the archives somewhere that no one knows how to find except an internet/archive sleuth?! (thats you!). If you find anything feel free to email me at james.mcb.san.leandro@gmail.com
Share with any residents/friends (not just parents!) in the neighborhood
There are a lot of people not on social media or plugged in that could be excited to support this campaign! Text them and let them know!
Flyers!
I have created some with a QR code to the petition, feel free to print and distribute. Here is the printable version of it.
Come to the school board meeting to support!
It's on Tues Feb 11 at 7pm at the Barbara Lee Center. I'll be presenting the petition and if you're there feel free to cheer and clap (I know it'll make me feel less nervous!)
