After a productive conversation with the General Manager of Heidelberg Materials, we’ve learned that the quarry is open to working with us toward a solution that benefits everyone.

The General Manager explained that the fencing and rocks were placed primarily to address liability concerns raised by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Encouragingly, he has already initiated the process of removing the mining permits from this specific area of land. While there’s always a chance of delay or complication, we’re hopeful that the process will move forward smoothly. In the meantime, we ask for your continued patience.

Based on our conversation, it’s clear the quarry is taking the community’s concerns seriously. If we remain respectful and cooperative, there’s a strong chance we’ll reach a positive outcome.

What this means:

  • The quarry is open to leasing the land for a nominal fee (estimated around $100/year), contingent on the removal of mining rights and identification of an entity willing to accept the lease and associated (minimal) liability.

  • Delta Ridge HOA is potentially interested in this arrangement, particularly if the lease can be offered at a token fee, such as $10/year.
While nothing is finalized yet, this is a significant step forward. The process may take a few months, and during this time, it’s important that the signage and fencing remain in place to protect all parties and avoid liability issues for the quarry.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and positivity as we work toward a shared solution.

With gratitude,
Joshua Danford
