Make your voice heard in Glenroy at 10:30am

Moreland City Council is holding a special meeting today (July 3 Sunday) in Glenroy, another one of its last minute special council meetings.

If you are in the area, we encourage you to attend and to make your voice heard.

We ask that you remain respectful when sharing your feedback with council and councillors. We know many of you will do so. By doing that ensures our message is not lost.

Our cause is to demand transparency and to stop the renaming from going ahead on the merit the council has not consulted with the community fairly and honestly.

This is evident by council now trying to lie and say that the community was asked whether to rename or not in the survey. We know this is misleading and false.

In case you missed it, Wurundjeri Elder Ian Hunter stated this week that the process is a "Greens farce" and will not make a difference to the Indigenous community. Ian has attended many events for Moreland in the past and is a respected Aboriginal man. We thank Ian for sharing his thoughts.

PS: Even if some councillors decide to go against the community wishes to stop a renaming (70% of written submissions opposed a name change), this cause is not done yet.

We will be requesting Melissa Horne MP to stop the renaming process. Melissa holds the responsibility to approve or deny the council's request.
