Hi friends, The School Board of Fairfax County has approved the name change for J.E.B. Stuart High School and scheduled two meetings to nominate a name (10am on September 9) then vote on the new name (10am-6pm September 16). Both meetings will be at the high school on Peace Valley Lane. Please join us Tuesday September 5, 7pm-9pm, at the Mason District Government Center (6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003), to discuss new name options for JEB Stuart HS, in advance of the official nomination of names September 9 and the vote September 16. Students for Change remain active with community members, alumni, and parents and are focused on choosing a new name that will inspire the school community to come together and heal, that represents advocacy for diversity and inclusion in public education, and that does not have any ties to the Confederacy. Our advocacy to change the name is not over! We continue to work to ensure that the new name of the school will embody the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
