Dear Supporters, We need your help more than ever! The Fairfax County Public Schools School Board has set June 22, 2017 as the date on which they will discuss and take action regarding the question of changing the name of the high school. We need you to express your support for changing the name to the School Board by attending a community meeting on May 18. 2017 beginning at 6:30 PM (registration begins at 6 PM) at J.E.B. Stuart High School, 3301 Peace Valley Ln, Falls Church, VA 22044. The meeting will be in the cafeteria You will recall that in July 2016 the Fairfax County Public Schools School Board approved a resolution to consider changing the name. That resolution called for the creation of an Ad Hoc Committee of citizens to study the proposed name change and report their findings to the School Board. That Ad Hoc Committee was finally formed and first met in February 2017. Our advocacy to change the name is well represented on the committee by both Branch members and other members of the community, including students, parents, and community leaders. The reports of the subcommittees are due to the Interim Superintendent of Schools on May 24, 2017.
