The Delaware County Employee Independent Union has submitted the 541 signatures to County Council during the recent council meeting on Tuesday June 18, 2024. As complaints continue to flood the Delaware County HR department we await to see what their response will be towards Warden Williams and the Deputy Wardens that show no respect or concern for the staff at George W. Hill Correctional Facility. Prison Society reviews based on announced visits are worthless! Two days prior to them coming to the jail the Unit 9B (female unit who had only 8 tablets to share among over 50 incarcerated prisoners) were given over 30 tablets to keep them from complaining about the unfair treatment. Pregnant officers forced to wear ripped, tight and unbuttoned uniforms because asking for a larger uniform is a crime at the facility. As we celebrated Juneteenth yesterday it felt more like working in a plantation. HVAC systems that don’t work, along with another typical stabbing reminded us how much sense it made to put cameras in the control rooms and not on the units. SMH! You can’t make this stuff up! Supervisors with years of knowledge and experience are not given the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the jail. Counselors going above and beyond the call of duty to help incarcerated persons are treated less than human. Medical staff doing all they can to treat over 1200 incarcerated persons are only meant with negative feedback and no push to properly staff the department so they can provide the proper help they need to incarcerate persons.
Our tax dollars will be going through the roof due to lawsuits that could’ve been avoided by putting someone who is better qualified with more knowledge of security. Continue to send all concerns to the Delaware County Council and don’t be afraid to call the HR department with your concerns. Thanks to everyone who supported this cause and who believe that the officers and staff should be treated with the respect they truly deserve!
