Remove UNHCR from Malaysia and Return Full Control of Refugee Affairs to the Malaysian Government

Enough is enough.

For years, Malaysians have watched the refugee situation grow while ordinary citizens are expected to bear the social, economic, and security consequences. The involvement of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Malaysia has become increasingly controversial, with many questioning its accountability, transparency, and impact on national interests.

Malaysia is a sovereign nation. Decisions regarding immigration, refugees, and border management must be made by Malaysians and for Malaysians—not by international organizations that do not answer directly to the Malaysian public.

We call on the Government of Malaysia to:

Terminate UNHCR's operational role within Malaysia.
Return full authority over refugee registration and management to Malaysian agencies.
Demand greater responsibility from the international community instead of allowing Malaysia to carry a disproportionate burden.
Prioritize the safety, welfare, employment opportunities, and future of Malaysian citizens.
This is not a rejection of compassion. It is a demand for accountability, sovereignty, and policies that place Malaysia first.
