📢 Remove the Pickleball Court from Newport, Jersey City – Restore Peace for Residents

The Issue

We, the residents of Newport in Jersey City, urge building management and local authorities to permanently remove the pickleball court located in front of our residential complex at 95 River Drive South, Jersey City.

Since its installation, the court has caused persistent and disruptive noise, making it extremely difficult for nearby residents to enjoy peace and quiet in their own homes. The loud and repetitive sounds of paddles, bouncing balls, and constant chatter from players and spectators are heard throughout the day, often from early morning into the evening.

This is not just a nuisance—it’s a violation of the Jersey City Noise Ordinance and a direct infringement on the peaceful enjoyment of our living space.

We are particularly concerned about:

  • Non-stop, high-pitched paddle and ball impacts reverberating through multiple buildings
  • Amplified noise due to the court’s close proximity to residential units
  • Increased foot traffic, crowd gathering, and disturbances
  • Sleep disruption, difficulty focusing for remote workers, and mental fatigue for families and elderly residents

We believe that no recreational feature should come at the cost of residents’ well-being.

Therefore, we demand that the pickleball court be:

  • Permanently removed
  • Replaced with a quieter, community-friendly alternative (e.g., garden, seating area, or silent-use recreation space)

This petition is not intended to oppose recreational activities in general, but to assert the right of residents to a peaceful home environment, which is currently being compromised.

Please sign and support this petition to help us restore the quality of life in Newport!
