Dear supporters:
I'm checking in with you today to give you an update.
First I want to let you know that we have been humbled by your support of our cause.
We started the fight in Mississippi, and even though we're in Washington D.C., our fire still burns bright from the torch of our great Magnolia state.
As many of you know, Mississippi has its problems; but change always comes about because of people like you and me: People that continue to buck the norms, push for progress, and champion the cause of the disenfranchised.
This recently led us to team up with actress Aunjanue Ellis (ABC's Quantico, The Help, Get on Up) in the quest to remove the Confederate symbol from the Mississippi state flag.
This isn't our first attempt to pull down this symbol of hate. Last year, we were featured in the Jackson Free Press to talk about the reasons why the Confederate symbol must be removed.
We are proud to say that the Take It Down America movement is in full effect. The Mississippi flag has been thrust back into the national narrative, and the focus is on our state.
The nation wants to know how we will move forward.
This is why we need your continued support. We need you to engage, inform and educate your family, friends, and neighbors. Ask them to follow our journey online, and to support us by spreading the word.
Change is coming to Mississippi. As I mentioned in my USA Today article that was published on May 24, it's time for us to reclaim our seat at the table.
We as residents of Mississippi must be willing to hold our leaders accountable, whether it's the issue of the flag, or the discrimination against the LGBT community.
We must be willing to stand against injustice, no matter the form it takes.
It was last year when we released the powerful video statement "I come from Mississippi"; but the message is still relevant today.
Will you watch and share this video?

The theme of intolerance, ignorance and hatred must be abolished; and we will continue to stand against those who carry this message of hate.
Thank you for standing with us.
